One Day Entrepreneurship Awareness Programme Organised at Pranab College
A One Day Entrepreneurship Awareness Programme on the theme “Empowering Youth, Enabling Enterprise” was organised by the Ministry of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises (MSME), Development & Facilitation Office, Dimapur, in collaboration with the Pranabananda Education Society (the Career Guidance and Counselling Cell, Pranab College). The programme commenced at 10:30 a.m. with the objective of creating awareness among students about entrepreneurship, government support, opportunities and the challenges involved in starting and managing enterprises.
The programme was chaired by Miss Nungsangtsungla Longkumer, BA 5th Semester. The opening session began with the Word of Blessing and Welcome Address delivered by Swami Chinmayanandaji Maharaj, Advisor, Pranabananda Education Society, followed by the Opening Remarks by Dr. Santosh Kumar, Principal, Pranab College.
The technical sessions featured four resource persons who provided students with valuable insights into different aspects of entrepreneurship and enterprise development. Mr. Kapil Rai, Assistant Director, MSME DFO Dimapur, spoke on “Government Schemes for Entrepreneurs.” He highlighted the various government schemes and support mechanisms available for aspiring entrepreneurs and emphasised the importance of understanding and utilising such opportunities to develop sustainable enterprises.
The second session was conducted by Mr. Jethro Mesan, Functional Manager, District Industries Centre (DIC), Dimapur, who spoke on “Local Policies and District-Level Incentives.” He discussed the role of local policies and incentives in encouraging entrepreneurship and explained how district-level support can help young entrepreneurs establish and expand their ventures. The session was followed by an interactive question-and-answer session.
A special number was presented by Miss Akumungla, BA 5th Semester, Department of Education, adding a cultural element to the programme.
The third technical session was addressed by Mr. Aolemba, Proprietor, Country Craft, Chumoükedima, on the topic “Case Studies and Challenges of Start Up in Nagaland.” Drawing from practical entrepreneurial experience, the session focused on the realities of starting a business in Nagaland, including the challenges faced by entrepreneurs and the importance of perseverance, innovation and adaptability in building a successful enterprise. The session was followed by a Q&A interaction with the participants.
The fourth technical session was conducted by Mr. Lipokakum, Branch Manager, Central Bank of India, Dimapur Branch, on “Financial Modelling and Loan Processing.” He provided students with insights into financial planning, financial modelling and the process involved in obtaining business loans. The session helped participants understand the importance of sound financial management and responsible planning while establishing an enterprise. It was also followed by an interactive Q&A session.
The programme concluded with the Vote of Thanks delivered by Miss Rupa Dutta, Convenor, Career Guidance and Counselling Cell, Pranab College. The event concluded with a photo session and refreshment.
The programme served as an informative platform for students to gain practical knowledge about entrepreneurship and the opportunities available to young aspiring entrepreneurs. The interactions with experts from MSME, the District Industries Centre, the banking sector and the local business community provided students with a broader understanding of government schemes, local incentives, entrepreneurial challenges and financial planning. Overall, the programme successfully encouraged students to explore entrepreneurship as a viable career option and reinforced the importance of innovation, financial awareness and enterprise development among the youth.
